John Cooper is a Scottish journalist and politician.
Politics
A member of the Scottish Conservatives, he was selected as the party's candidate for Dumfries and Galloway for the next United Kingdom general election[1] to replace incumbent Alister Jack pending a peerage to the House of Lords.[2][3] He had previously worked for Jack as a special advisor on media relations.[4]
Journalism
Cooper started his career working on the Stranraer and Wigtownshire Free Press weekly newspaper in 1984. He subsequently returned as editor in 2019.[5] He has also worked at the Irish Daily Mail and Scottish Daily Mail.[6]
