Hello! My name is Lucy Tinsley. I am currently a sophomore Human Resource Development student at Texas A&M University, minoring in Business Administration, and co-enrolled at Austin Community College.
Upon completing my degree, I plan to either continue my studies by earning a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management or go directly into the Human Resources field. Human Resources is not a field many people think of when going to college, but the backbone of every successful business starts with a strong HR department. When speaking with others about my degree I always like to mention that every industry needs or has an HR department so there are many different paths to go down with my degree. The

My current position as an HR Student Assistant has helped me improve my skills in professional communication including email and phone conversations, project and event planning from start to finish, multitasking through balancing multiple projects at once, managing a budget, working in a team or independently, and adapting to sudden plan changes. My position predominantly focuses on providing mental health and wellness resources and opportunities for the faculty/staff in my department. I get to plan fun activities like participating in an escape room and educational opportunities like learning how to eat better for your heart or low-mobility exercises. Each month we send out a newsletter that provides information about our monthly focus and the events we have scheduled for the month and I am in charge of producing the newsletter and ensuring that it gets approved by my supervisors.
More about me! This is a picture of me partaking in one of my favorite hobbies, scuba diving. During this trip, I went to Playa del Carmen in Mexico and did about six dives in a week. I am still fairly new to diving, but each time I dive it gets easier. Some of the most interesting creatures I have seen diving include Reef Sharks, Lion Fish, an Eagle Ray, Eels, and so many fish in every color imaginable.
